TUESDAY 3/29: Eiko & Koma: Naked – A Living Installation, is a visual art and movement show that is an “exploration into nakedness, desire, and the elasticity of time.” Runs until April 9. Baryshnikov Arts Center. Tues.-Fri. at 6 p.m. Sat. & Sun. at 3 p.m. Free.
WEDNESDAY 3/30: Have an idea for a book? Take your pitch to Pitchapalooza. Authors Arielle Eckstut and David Henry Sterry, The Essential Guide to Getting Your Book Published, and local judges Richard Nash (Soft Skull Press) and Jason Pinter (Waxman Literary Agency) will hear one-minute pitches. The winner will receive an introduction to an agent or publisher. Greenlight Bookstore. 7:30 p.m. Free.
THURSDAY 3/31: Mike Geffner presents The Inspired Word featuring international poet Samantha Thornhill accompanied by guitarist (and folk singer) Valerie June. Veronica Golos, Vocabulary of Silence, will also read. There will be a 15-slot open mic, open to poets, spoken word artists, fiction and nonfiction writers, comedians, singers, and musicians. One and One (downstairs Nexus Lounge). 6:30 p.m. $10.
Sex educator and activist Susie Bright will discuss her memoir Big Sex Little Death. Doug Henwood, publisher of Left Business Observer and contributing editor of The Nation will interview Bright. Strand Bookstore. 7 p.m. Free.
FRIDAY 4/01: The New School presents its first arts festival on the classic genre of Noir. Featuring artists and critics Frances McDormand, Todd Haynes, Marc Ribot, Guy Maddin, Mary Gaitskill, Robert Pinsky, Luc Sante, Terry Teachout, Paul Moravec, Frank Bidart, Molly Haskell, Ben Katchor, and more. SATURDAY 4/02: The Poetry Society of America will try to usher in some warmth to this chilly East coast spring with A Season in Poetry. Poets Cynthia Cruz, Lisa Olstein, and Cynthia Zarin will their own work along with classic favorites at The New York Botanical Garden. 3 p.m. Free admission with an All Garden Pass admission to the Botanical Garden.
SUNDAY 4/03: BAM presents an artist talk with Declan Donnellan, joint founder and artistic director of Cheek by Jowl, discussing his production of Macbeth with Columbia Professor James Shapiro, Contested Will: Who Wrote Shakepeare. BAMcafé. 6 p.m. $15, $7.50 for friends of BAM.
