My Unfinished Novels is a new website that asks the question, “Why was this novel abandoned?”
If you’re holding onto 55 pages of a manuscript written in 1999 that you thought was going to be the “great American novel”—this is the site for you. Unfinished novelists submit the name of their manuscript, the reason the novel is incomplete (reasons vary on the site, from heartbreak and loss of interest to NaNoWriMo incompletes), a summary of the story, and an excerpt.
The site was created by Steve Wilson, author of the non-fiction book The Boys From Little Mexico: A Season Chasing The American Dream, and self-described “six-time failed novelist.”
Perhaps an agent or publisher will pluck one of these unfinished novels from internet obscurity. My vote goes to I Probably Pooped on Your Couch.
