John Sayles, who just blew our minds with a novel that is both physically and emotionally heavy, directed an indie film called Amigo, which is his 17th film. The movie is about “a village mayor caught in the murderous cross-fire of the Philippine-American War in 1900,” drawing on themes of friendship, romance, violence and other heartbreaking combinations of emotions.
It’s premiering in New York in August as part of the Asian American International Film Festival. Check out the event details and peep the trailer!
