MONDAY 7/18: A Public Space presents an event with Robert Sullivan, contributor to APS 13. He’ll talk about his essay on public art in the city with Irish artist Katie Holten and editor-at-large Elizabeth Gaffney. Brigid Hughes will moderate. Refreshments served. BookCourt. 7 p.m. Free.
TUESDAY 7/19: Join author Brando Skyhorse, The Madonnas of Echo Park, and writers James Langlois and Juliet Grames for a reading at KGB Bar. Skyhorse will read from his upcoming memoir Things My Father Taught Me. KGB Bar. 7pm.
WEDNESDAY 7/20: Finishing Line Press will host its most recently published poets: Sarah Stern, Elizabeth Poreba, Katrinka Moore, Maria Lisella, and Nancy Hechinger at Cornelia Street Café. 6 p.m. $7, includes a drink.
THURSDAY 7/21: Literary nerds, spend your night playing Farrar, Straus and Giroux’s Nerd Jeopardy. Compete in teams in this literary trivia night. Prizes will be awarded and free drinks! McNally Jackson. 7 p.m. Free.
Friends, how many of us have them? Tonight’s Moth StorySLAM’s theme is friendship. There’ll be 10 stories, three teams of judges, and one winner. Get there early, this is a popular event. Housing Works Bookstore Café. 7 p.m. $8.
FRIDAY 7/22: Andrew Laties, author of Rebel Bookseller will celebrate the new edition of the book with a special conversation on independent bookselling with booksellers Denis Johnson of Melville House, Tatiana Nicoli of Boulevard Books, Christine Onorati of WORD, and Margarita Shalina of St. Mark’s Bookstore. SATURDAY 7/23: Shakespeare in the Park presents Measure for Measure in the Delacorte Theater at Central Park. Tickets are given out at 1 p.m. on the day of the performance at the Theater and they go super fast. Show’s at 8 p.m.
SUNDAY 7/24: Let’s go back to the 80s, throw down some cardboard and show off our b-boy and b-girl skills. Or we could just head to Habana Outpost for Movies Under the Stars and watch 1984s Breakin’. 8 p.m. Free.
