TUESDAY 8/16: Word for Word Poetry at Bryant Park will feature poets of Letras Latinas: J. Michael Martinez, Cynthia Cruz, Maria Melendez, and Toni Plummer. Bryant Park Reading Room. (Rain Location is The General Society of Mechanics and Tradesmen at 20 West 44th Street.) 7 p.m. Free.
WEDNESDAY 8/17: Housing Works Bookstore Café presents a party for My Drunk Kitchen YouTube star Hannah “Harto” Hart. Hannah’s YT show is, surprisingly enough, all about drinking and cooking. The event will feature a screening of the show, Q&A, and themed drink specials. 7 p.m. Free.
THURSDAY 8/18: Poetry from the Rooftops will feature Cedar Sigo, along with Rosanna Warren and Dara Wier. The Arsenal Building at Central Park. 6:30 p.m. Free.
FRIDAY 8/19: Rooftop Films presents World’s Best Dad, a film about two brothers who reunite after their father’s death…and attempt to blast his ashes to space. Live music before the film at 8:30 p.m. by Sport of Kings. Film begins at 9 p.m. After party at 11 p.m. The Old American Can Factory. $10.
SATURDAY 8/20: It’s the 7th Annual Fort Greene Park Summer Literary Festival featuring the best of Brooklyn: Bryonn Bain, R. Erica Doyle, Bernice McFadden, Rick Moody, Jon Sands, and young writers from the New York Writers Coalition’s free workshops in Fort Greene Park. Near the monument. (Rain venue is Greenlight Bookstore.) 3 p.m. There will be an after party at Greenlight with cheese, wine, and a book signing at 6 p.m.
SUNDAY 8/21: Take a trip down memory lane with SummerStage’s Salute to Hip-Hop featuring Rakim, EPMD, and FunkMaster Flex, that will celebrate the 25th anniversary of Rakim’s album Paid in Full. Central Park Mainstage. 3 p.m. Free.
