Wednesday 8/24: Award winning poet and bilingual children’s book author Jorge Argueta reads at Ictus Gallery 7-9PM, $7. Clark Blaise and Bharati Mukherjee are at the Booksmith reading from their newly published books and discussing ‘the expectations and realities’ of intercultural marriage 7:30PM FREE.
Thursday 8/25: If your lunch hour’s open and you’re looking to spend some time outdoors-check out this week’s Yerba Buena Gardens Lunchtime Concert, where Sawai Koto USA will be playing from 12:30-1PM Yerba Buena Gardens. Good Vibrations’ Polk Street store is hosting a reading by Rachel Adair with her new sensual novel “”All Acts of Love and Pleasure are Her Rituals” 6:30-830PM FREE Good Vibrations. Gabby Young and other Animals has been listed as a brit pop, jazz, and gypsy folk group-and they’re playing for free if you can make it over to Amoeba by 6PM.
Friday 8/28: 826 Valencia is hosting its second 8/26 write-a-thon sit-in from 12-8:26PM. Get friends family and strangers to sponsor you to write like a motherf*cker to raise money for 826 educational programs and get yourself 10% off fall classes at the SF Writer’s Grotto. Saturday 8/27: Crafting and free stuff! The Dolores Park Really Really Free Market happens today from 1-6PM. Bring your stuff or just yourself and trade away. The Presidio branch of the public library is hosting a collage Crafternoon beginning at 4PM. The title says its collage-specific, but show up with your own projects and pick over ideas and supplies with fellow DIYers from all over town. FREE.
