About a hundred gay, lesbian, and bisexual members of the military will come out to their fellow service members on U.S. Army and Air Force bases in the pages of OutServe Magazine on September 20, 2011. That is the day that “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell” is officially over and done with. It’s also the day that the U.S. Army and Air Force administration will allow for the first time a magazine geared towards gay service members to be distributed on military bases. OutServe Magazine’s upcoming issue will feature a special on the DADT repeal and include profiles of almost a hundred active military publicly proclaiming that they are gay, lesbian, or bisexual. Good thing, too. Now when the troops and their families are headed to the commissary for groceries, they can check out the faces of their brothers and sisters who no longer have to live secret lives.
