Yesterday, New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg informed the protesters in Zuccotti Park that they would be evicted this morning at 7 AM so the park could be cleaned. The protesters responded by sending out a call for cleaning supplies and a show of support. The owners of the park (that’s correct–it’s a private park) backed down. Via the blog Balloon Juice, it seems that Mayor Bloomberg’s girlfriend is on the Board of Directors of Brookfield Properties, the owners of the park.
Henry Blodget, writing for that commie rag Business Insider, explains exactly what protesters are so angry about.
If you’re a writer who supports Occupy Wall Street and would like a way to show that support openly, here’s one way to do it. I signed earlier today and it hasn’t updated yet, so I don’t know how long it will take, but it would be cool to see the list grown significantly.
