This week in New York, Sapphire and Sherman Alexie at the 92nd Street Y; Steve Almond reads from God Bless America; The Gaslight Salon Series; Slick Rick performs; Floating Kabarette; and KGB Bar’s Graphic Novelist Night.

MONDAY 11/21: Poetry and prose tonight at the 92nd Street Y, featuring Sapphire, who will read from her latest novel, The Kid, and Sherman Alexie, who will read from War Dances, a collection of stories and poems. 8 p.m. $27, $10 for people 35 and under.

TUESDAY 11/22: Author Steve Almond will read from his latest collection, God Bless America: Stories, followed by a conversation with writers Nick Flynn and Darin Strauss at McNally Jackson. 7 p.m. Free.

WEDNESDAY 11/23: The Gaslight Salon Series presents: What Will the Neighbors Say? Featuring poets Patrick Rosal, Boneshepherds, and Kyla Marshell, co-founder and co-editor of SunDryed Affairs. Hosted by Lynn Procope. 116 MacDougal. 7 p.m. Free.

FRIDAY 11/25: Kick it old school tonight with the legendary Slick Rick, performing songs from his album, The Ruler’s Back. B.B. Kings Blues Club & Grill. 11 p.m. $18 in advance; $22 at the door.

SATURDAY 11/26: Trapeze, burlesque, and cabaret, at Floating Kabarette. Galapagos Art Space. 10 p.m. $20.

SUNDAY 11/27: KGB Bar hosts its annual Post Thanxgiving Comix and Graphic Novelist Night featuring Josh Bayer; Jason Little, Jack’s Luck Runs Out; Morgan Pielli; and MK Reed, Americus. Hosted by Robyn Chapman. 7 p.m.
