Tuesday 11/29: The Hub hosts a conversation with seasoned Occupiers Christina Samala, Colin Mutchler, Natalie Foster and Katt Hoben. Including a screening and grilled cheese! Free, 6:30pm The Hub. Wednesday 11/30: SOMArts holds the closing reception for Man As Object: Reversing the Gaze. Includes screenings of historic feminist film Fuses, plus a panel discussion on contemporary feminism + illustrations of “the culture of display.” Free, 6-9pm. City Arts and Lectures has Miranda July in conversation with Julia Bryan Wilson on her newest, It Chooses You. 8pm, Books Inc.
Thursday 12/1: City Lights hosts Nelson George reading from and discussing The Plot Against Hip Hop, a “noir novel set in the world of hip hop culture.” Free, 7pm. SFSU opens a week of Tom Stoppard’s first big one, Rosencrantz and Guildenstern Are Dead, where heavy Shakespearean narrative becomes nothing but absurd circumstance in the experiences of two minor characters. Tickets start at $5, SFSU Little Theatre.
Satuday 12/3: Lindsay McCrum, photographer and author of Chicks With Guns, reads at the SF Public Library Presidio Branch. Discuss the project, described as “a gorgeous exploration of the powerful connection between women and their firearms,” with the author. Free, 1pm. Presido Branch.
Sunday 12/4: Bird and Beckett Books presents an afternoon of world lit and music. Bierce Returns!, a one-character play on the inimitable Ambrose Bierce begins at 2pm, followed by Which Way West? a concert by the Ajyal Arabic Ensemble at 4:30pm. Both free.
