Louis CK has revealed the results of a social experiment in which he directed, self-produced, and sold his show Louis C.K. Live At The Beacon Theater. By doing it all himself and avoiding a big company, he was able to make the show available internationally, free of restrictions, and only five dollars. Also, unlike an outside company he’s not hoarding our private information. The big question was whether people would actually buy the video. After four days of rampant sales, it looks like people paid and everyone won.
“I learned that money can be a lot of things. It can be something that is hoarded, fought over, protected, stolen and withheld. Or it can be like an energy, fueled by the desire, will, creative interest, need to laugh, of large groups of people. And it can be shuffled and pushed around and pooled together to fuel a common interest, jokes about garbage, penises and parenthood.”
