WEDNESDAY 1/04: McNally Jackson presents (Re)making media: DIY, zines, punk rock, gen X and millenials in the digital age. Moderated by Figment.com’s Jacob Lewis on the occasion of publication of Blake Nelson’s Dream School, serialized at Figment. Also featuring, Christopher Bollen, Lightning People; Mikki Halpin, Ben is Dead, Shut Up Foodies; Isadora Schappell-Spillman, Teenage, Rookie; Ian Vanek, Japanther; and Jenna Wortham, Girl Crush Zine. 7 p.m.
THURSDAY 1/05: All the Single Ladies: WORD presents a reading with Anna David, Falling for Me: How I Hung Curtains, Learned to Cook, Traveled to Seville, and Fell in Love; Beth Griffenhagen, Haiku for the Single Girl; and Rachel Kramer Bussell, Women in Lust, Best Sex Writing 2012. FRIDAY 1/06: The Inspired Word hosts its 2-year anniversary show, featuring 30 spoken word artists, poets, singers, and comedians, including Patricia Smith, Vanessa Hidary, Jamaal St. John, and Ocean Vuong. Hosted by HBO Def Poetry star Gemineye and NYC spoken word legend Nathan P. 116 Macdougal. 6 p.m. $15
SATURDAY 1/07: Lucas Klauss will read from his new young adult novel, Everything You Need to Survive the Apocalypse, at BookCourt. 7 p.m. Free.
SUNDAY 1/08: KGB Bar Sunday Night Fiction will feature Chiara Barzini, Sister Stop Breathing; Robert Lopez, Part of the World; and Gary Lutz, Stories in the Worst Way. 7 p.m.
