MONDAY 1/09: The Franklin Park Reading Series will host a short fiction night with Sam Lipsyte, The Ask, and Gary Lutz, Divorcer. Also featuring Catherin Lacy, Mitch Levenberg, and Christine Vines. $4 pints. The Coffin Factory will give away copies of their latest issue to the first 50 attendees. TUESDAY 1/10: Emily Books hosts author Emily Carter, in conversation with Marco Roth of n + 1. Carter will read from her new collection of stories, Glory Goes and Gets Some. WORD. 7 p.m. Free.
WEDNESDAY 1/11: Need a shrink? Come out to Speed Shrinking for the New Year with Susan Shapiro and psychotherapist Frederick Woolverton. You can speed shrink/date with top mental health professionals, including an addiction specialist or a sex therapist. Refreshments will be served. Housing Works Bookstore Café. 7 p.m. Free.
THURSDAY 1/12: Tonight, The Delancey features Couplet, a poetry and music series hosted by poet Leah Umansky. Featured poets include Joanna Furhman, Rick Snyder, and Hanna Andrews. Reading at 8 p.m. After party with DJ Ceremony at 9 p.m. Free.
FRIDAY 1/13: Poet Drew Gardner, Chomp Away, will play in concert with his Flarf Orchestra to celebrate the release of his new CD, Edge. Flarf Orchestra is one of several configurations from Gardner’s Poetics Orchestra project, which combines music and poetry. He uses a unique card and hand-signal conduction system in which musicians and poets are conducted together. The Gallery at (Le) Poisson Rouge. 7 p.m. Free.
SATURDAY 1/14: If you love The Beatles this is the event for you: The Beatles Complete on Ukulele. All 185 original Beatles songs will be performed live with ukuleles and dozens of guest singers including Adam Levy, Julian Velard, Casey Shea, The Ramblers, Leah Seigel, Chris Cubeta and The Liars Club, Alyson Greenfield, Bill Sims Jr., Jingle Punks Orchestra, Martin Rivas, Andrew Vladeck, Erik Deutsch, Suzanna Choffel, and Deni Bonet, and more. Bring a ukulele between 2 and 3 p.m. to get in free and play on stage for the first two songs. Brooklyn Bowl. 3 p.m. $10.
SUNDAY 1/15: KGB Bar Sunday Night Fiction will feature Dale Peck, The Garden of Lost and Found, and Jonathan Dozier-Ezell. 7 p.m.
