Wednesday 2/1: Edmund White reads from his January-published Jack Holmes and His Friend, “the tantalizing story of a decades-long friendship between two men that charts the sexual revolution from both gay and straight perspectives.” Free, 7pm City Lights.
Thursday 2/2: Surfing the Gnarl reading at Green Arcade. “Mad Professor” of Cyberpunk, Rudy Rucker transformed modern science fiction, tethering the “gnarly” speculations of quantum physics to the noir sensibilities of a skeptical and disenchanted generation. Friday 2/3: City Arts and Lectures gets illustrator Maira Kalmanand writer Daniel Handler in conversation for their illustrated novel, Why We Broke Up. 8pm, Herbst Theater.
Saturday 2/4: Stephen Blackmoore reads from his debut, City of the Lost, a “head-shakingly perfect blend of zombie schlock, deadpan wit, startling profanity, desperate improvisation and inventive brilliance.” Free, 3pm Borderlands Books.
