Monday 2/27: Catch the end of the Jewish Community Center’s 2012 Bookfest with a staged reading of Peter Orner’s collection, Esther Stories. Read a review here. $10, 8pm Jewish Community Center.
Tuesday 2/28: Litquake’s Epicenter Reading Series arrives at Cafe Tosca featuring Steve Erikson, whose “unique brand of postmodern fiction has over the years earned the praises of David Foster Wallace, Thomas Pynchon, Kathy Acker, and Jonathan Lethem.” 7pm, free.
Wednesday 2/29: Trinie Dalton reads from Baby Geisha a “collection of thirteen sexually-charged stories that roam from the Coney Island Ferris wheel to the Greek Isles.” 7pm, free City Lights.
Thursday 3/1: The End of Money: Counterfeiters, Preachers, Techies, Dreamers — and the Coming Cashless Society is David Wolman’s exploration and critique of collective blind faith in our current economic system and, “trusting the currency of the land—and especially our cash in hand—to retain value now and forever.” Free, 7:30pm Booksmith
Friday 3/2: Three notable films screening at tonight’s San Francisco Green Film Festival include Local Hero (9:45pm), You’ve Been Trumped (7:45pm), and Who Bombed Judi Bari? (5pm) all $12.
Saturday 3/3: The Chinese Progressive Association hosts civil rights and Asian American rights activist Grace Lee Boggs, co-author of the forthcoming Next American Revolution: Sustainable Activism for the Twenty-First Century. Also featuring Danny Glover and co-author Scott Kurashige. $5-$20 sliding scale.
