MONDAY 5/7: Internet friends and fiction writers Mark Doten, Justin Taylor, and Gregory Howard read together IRL at Word bookstore. 7 pm, free.
TUESDAY 5/8: Katie Halper hosts Mischief and Mayhem’s Unprintable, a reading series featuring writers who have refused to publish their work, or who have found it difficult or impossible to publish traditionally. Ned Beauman, Simon Critchley, and Mark Doten (again) will read. The Gallery at Le Poisson Rouge, doors at 6pm, show at 6:30pm, free.
WEDNESDAY 5/9: Housing Works Bookstore Café brings together three lit mags, harlequin creature, The Agriculture Reader, and Ugly Duck Presse’s 6×6, for readings by contributors Lecco Morris, Hannah Webster, Stella Wilde, Yelena Akhtiorskaya, and Karl Larocca; live music by Relatives and Isaac Gillespie; and refreshments. 7pm. No admission, but bring a book to donate.
THURSDAY 5/10: Bookcourt throws a release party for Gideon Lewis-Kraus’s A Sense of Direction; the author will read, answer questions, and sign books. 7pm, free.
FRIDAY 5/11: The Danspace Project and the NYU Creative Writing Program present Nox, a dance and live drawing performance inspired by Anne Carson’s poetry work of the same name. Danspace Project, St. Mark’s Church-in-the-Bowery, 8pm, $18. Also runs Thursday and Saturday.
SATURDAY 5/12: The Poetry Society welcomes summer with A Season in Poetry at the New York Botanical Garden, featuring readings by poets Erika Meitner, Benjamin Paloff, and Thomas Sleigh. 4 pm, free with an All Garden Pass.
SUNDAY 5/13: Rajesh Paramaswaram (I Am an Executioner) and Catherine Chung (Forgotten Country) read at KGB Bar’s Sunday Night Fiction showcase. 7pm, free.
