Tuesday 5/8: Women’s Comedy Night featuring Karinda Dobbins, Mimi Vilmenay, Lisa Guilduldig, Jessica Sele and Marga Gomez. Free, 8:30pm. 21+ Layover Comedy Club.
Wednesday 5/9: Writer, comic, and illustrator Alison Bechdel reads from Are You My Mother? her follow up to 2006’s memoir, Fun Home. The second biographical volume is hailed as another brilliantly told tale of filial sleuthery, this time about Bechdel becoming the artist her mother herself wanted to be.” Free, 7:30, Booksmith.
Thursday 5/10: Join the BrokeAss Gourmet Cookbook launch party at Green Apple Books, with food writer and gourmet chef Gabi Moskowitz. Readings wine, and recipes from the book on hand. Free, 7pm.
Friday 5/11: Literary Clown Foolery returns to the Booksmith, 8pm. The creepiest and sweetest of the Grimm’s tales read aloud by you, hosted by the Goethe Institute, 6pm.
Saturday 5/12: Storytime-a-palooza kicks off Children’s Book Week. San Francisco mainstay Nellie Wong reads from her latest volume of poetry at Bird and Beckett. Also, Farm Workshops and cooking class in Petaluma for the day, and hardcore supergroup free show for night.
