Pitchfork has posted a trailer for funky-afro-prog-pop indie darlings Dirty Projectors’ upcoming short film, “Hi Custodian.”
Among the many highlights is the 808 heavy, clap laden introductory track, “Offspring Are Blank,” which is somehow both hymn-like and head-nod-inducing, set against a backdrop of garbage dumps and wandering rabbis. Also included is the sing-songy “About to Die,” in which, appropriately, the trio of David Longstreth, Amber Coffman, and Haley Dekle joyously proclaim that the listener is, in fact, “about to die.”
The film, directed by Longstreth, should be out around the same time as the bands newest record “Swing Lo Magellan,” on July 9.
The first teaser from the short film, featuring the jumpsuited muses Coffman and Dekle clapping and harmonizing, can be streamed here.
“Swing Lo Magellan” can be streamed for free in its entirety at The New York Times.
