MONDAY 7/9: This month at the Franklin Park reading series: Mark Leyner (The Sugar Frosted Nutsack), Eric Sasson (Margins of Tolerance), Rupinder Gill (On the Outside Looking Indian), Mathhue Roth (Losers), and Polly Bresnick (Old Gus Eats). Franklin Park, 8pm, free.

TUESDAY 7/10: Colson Whitehead reads, answers questions, and signs books at a Zone One paperback release party, hosted by BookCourt. 7pm, free.

The Folding Chair reading series this month features performances by poet Aimee Herman, composer Evan Wilson, and novelist Honor Molloy. 61 Local, free.

WEDNESDAY 7/11: The monthly Real Characters storytelling series hits McNally Jackson, with stories by Leigh Stein (The Fallback Plan), Mike Albo (The Underminer), Cathryn Harding (Columbia Journalism Review), and Peter Aguero (host of The Moth). 7pm, free.

THURSDAY 7/12: The good folks at Archipelago Books throw a launch party for Prehistoric Times, with readings by translator Alyson Waters and a Q&A with Donald Nicholson-Smith. 6:30 pm, Unnameable Books, free.

SUNDAY 7/15: The Gotham Writers Workshop hosts a children’s book writing session, led by Matthew Cody (Powerless, The Dead Gentlemen). HousingWorks, 11am, free.
