Wednesday 7/25: Philip P. Choy reads from San Francisco Chinatown: A Guide to Its History and Architecture, a celebration of the storied and rich community behind the neighborhood’s tourist-magnet narrative. Free, 7pm, City Lights Books. The SF Marathon sponsors fun for non runners with Bollywood Nights at the Conservatory of Flowers. $5 6-10pm.
Thursday 7/26: Rob Read launches Year Zero, an “IPSF” (intellectual property science fiction) novel hailed by none other than the Daily Show as” the Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy combined with the Social Network.” Free, 7:30pm, Booksmith.
Friday 7/27: re:Told Storytelling holds an all-in-one reading, book launch, and closing reception featuring Larissa Canney, Rene Yung’s Chinese Whispers project, Jordan Minter Amol Ray Adrienne, Skye Roberts, and Ingrid Rojas. Sliding scale $1-$20, 6pm, at Root Division. The Rumpus presents the release of Tiny Beautiful Things, an anthology of Dear Sugar’s best over the years. $15, 6:30pm, Verdi Club.
Saturday 7/28: The Oakland Museum holds a free admission day celebrating the unveiling of Ohlone artist and scholar Linda Yamane’s commissioned ceremonial Ohlone weaving work, the first of its kind made in nearly 250 years. Featuring dance, storytelling and ceremony. Free, 1-3pm.
