Monday 10/8: Quiet Lightning hosts its final reading for the summer at the Conservatory of Flowers. Celebrate with the readers at 8pm. $5.
Tuesday 10/9: Public Works hosts Celluloid Salon, a series of silent films accompanied by live DJ sets and a performance by local trio Grass Widow. Free with RSVP.
Wednesday 10/10: The Kearny Street Workshop hosts I Give You My Word: 40 Years of Asian American Literature at the historic I-Hotel in Manilatown. Featuring Genny Lim, Oscar Peñaranda, Leah Lakshmi Piepzna-Samarasinha, Jai Arun Ravine, and Alice Sola Kim. 6:30pm, $5-10 suggested donation.
Thursday 10/11: Bawdy Storytelling takes the night with a Litquake lineup showcasing “the vulnerability, unexpected transcendence and hilarity of human sexuality,” featuring Dixie De La Tour, Midori, Simon Sheppard, Jamye Waxman, Julian Cash, and Airial Clark. 6pm, $5-10 suggested donation.
Friday 10/12: Epic literature from creation myth to contemporary fantasy, featuring Andrew Mayer, Ken Scholes, and Tad Williams. 7pm, $5 suggested donation.
Saturday 10/13: LitCrawl, the world’s largest free literary event, featuring over 450 authors and more than 80 venues, takes over the Mission tonight. In three phases from 6-10pm, all free. Full schedule here.
