Monday 11/12: The SHOUT is a live storytelling event featuring people from all walks of life telling amazing but true 10-minute stories from their lives. Tonight features Danielle Thys, Michael Ray Wisley, Anne Galjour, Paul Loomis and Xiao Juan Shu. 7:30pm. $5, Grand Lake Coffee House. ALSO: the Rumpus co-hosts the kickstarter kick off party for Happy Baby tonight.
Tuesday 11/13: SF Theater Pub stages Chrysalis: A Solo Tragicomedy written and performed by Oakland based writer and producer Evangeline Crittenden. The one-act “solo variety show” explores a sister’s experience of losing her older brother. Pop up kitchen at 7pm, show begins at 8. Donations welcome, Cafe Royale.
Wednesday 11/14: Ian Frazier’s reads from his first novel, The Cursing Mommy’s Book of Days, based on a collection of columns originally released in the New Yorker. Styled as a daybook, “Her voice is somewhere between Phyllis Diller’s and Sylvia Plath’s: a hilariously desperate housewife with a taste for swearing and large glasses of red wine, who speaks to the frustrations of everyday life.” Free, 7:30, Booksmith.
Thursday 11/15: 100% of tonight’s entry sales to the Future Sound Music Fest benefits the SF Food Bank. $5 before 11pm, Mighty.
Friday 11/16: The Macy’s pet adoption window displays begin today-swing by if you’re downtown to give your heart a squeeze. The SF DocFest is ongoing, featuring local work and documentaries from Austria, UK, Denmark, Turkey, Mali, Japan, Canada, Brazil, India.
Saturday 11/17: The Center for Sex and Culture hosts the Godless Perverts Story Hour, a tale-driven tutorial on how to have “good sex without having any gods, goddesses, spirits, or their earthly representatives hanging over your shoulder and telling you that you’re doing it wrong.” Featuring fiction, nonfiction, poetry, and performances from Maggie Mayhem, Victor Harris, Greta Christina, David Fitzgerald, Chris Hall, Dana Fredsti, Anthony O’Con, and Simon Sheppard. 7pm, $10-$20,
