Monday 1/28: Lit Slam,the monthly, live performance-based poetry anthology showcasing the best art at “the intersection of page and stage,” kicks off 2013 with Daphne Gottlieb. 8pm, $5 at Viracocha.
Tuesday 1/29: Inside Story Time is back with Suspects, as told through readings from Jon Boilard, Mariah K. Young, Zarina Zabrisky, and Junse Kim, and spoken word from John Panzer. $5, 7pm at the Make Out Room.
Wednesday 1/30: Poets David Lloyd and Joseph Lease read from their respective acclaimed collections. Free, 7:30 at Moe’s.
Thursday 1/31: Feelmore510 holds Ask a Ho, a space where sex workers speak and field questions about their trade. Hosted with the Sex Worker’s Outreach Project. 7:30 Sliding scale.
Friday 2/1: SOMArts opens Mourning and Scars, a multimedia group exhibition by 13 US-baed Salvadoran artists reflecting on everyday life during El Salvador’s postwar period. Free, 6-9pm.
Saturday 2/2: Mud & Blood: A Swamp Noir Fairy Tale is a Southern Gothic “song and story cycle of thirteen songs woven into a single narrative full of blood, mud, and magic.” Playing this weekend at the Lost Church.
