Claire is an experienced therapist, specializing in grief counseling, and the author of the memoir The Rules of Inheritance (Penguin/Hudson St., February 2012).

A veteran of written correspondence, Claire wrote an early Letter in the Mail, which went on to be published in The Best American Nonrequired Reading 2012. Claire reflected on the responses she received to her first letter: “I wrote back to all of you.”
