MONDAY 02/11: Swoon! The Recital is a new reading series that is a throw-back to the days when we memorized a bit of Beowulf in Old English for school. (Anyone?) At Swoon! hosts Rachel Syme and Maris Kreizman ask writers to come and read something from memory that is not their own. This month’s line-up includes Ryan Chapman, A.N. Denver, Jason Diamond, David Gutowski, singer-songwriter Gabriel Kahane, Lauren Leto, Rita Meade, Adam Wilson, and many others. Housing Works Bookstore, 7pm, Free.
TUESDAY 02/12: Ron Currie reads from his new novel Flimsy Little Plastic Miracles. WORD, 7pm, Free.
WEDNESDAY 02/13: The Atlas Review hosts the third installment of their Atlas reading series that features poets and artists in collaboration. This reading, Atlas III, features readings from Ana Božičević, Roger Bonair-Agard, Patrick Gaughan, Justin Taylor, and Sophia Le Fraga. Those readers will be paired with artists Criminy Johnson, Robin Mork, Natalie Rae Good, Eric Amling, and Emily Raw, respectively. Local 61, 7pm, Free.
Also on Wednesday, Amiri Baraka and Thomas Sayers Ellis will read at the Poetry Project. St. Mark’s Church, 8pm.
THURSDAY 02/14: Take your valentine to see Lars Iyer read from his new novel Exodus tonight. Sell it to your date by letting them know there will be a discussion with media theorist McKenzie Wark, as well as free gin and wine. Bookcourt, 7pm, Free.
FRIDAY 02/15: WNYC’s Leonard Lopate moderates a discussion between poet Tracy K. Smith (Man on Mars) and Man Booker-winner A.S. Byatt (Possession). Both authors will read as well. PowerHouse Arena, 6pm, Free w/ RSVP.
SATURDAY 02/16: Ugly Duckling Presse’s lit mag 6×6 celebrates the release of issues #26-28 with readings from Eric Amling, Jon Curley, Katie Fowley, Dan Ivec, Gracie Leavitt, William Minor, Matt Reeck, Levi Rubeck, Judah Rubin, and Yvette Siegert, with music from $75 Dollar Bill. Knockdown Center, 8pm, $5.
Also on Saturday, the COUPLET poetry and music series hosts a Valentine’s Edition of their monthly series featuring poets Lisa-Marie Basile, Robert Gibbons, Paul Lisicky, J. Hope Stein, and Leigh Stein, with music to follow from DJ Ceremony. The Delancey, 7pm, Free.
SUNDAY 02/17: The Writer’s Studio celebrates the Harvard Review Sunday night with readings from André Aciman, Katherine Vaz, Timothy Donnelly, and Cate Marvin. (Le) Poisson Rouge, 5pm, $10.
