Elissa Bassist is the editor of our Funny Women column. Her writing has appeared here on The Rumpus, in The New York Times, NYMag.com, The Paris Review Daily, The Daily Beast, McSweeney’s Internet Tendency, Salon, Creative Nonfiction, and most recently in Get Out of My Crotch, a collection of twenty-one writers responding to America’s war on women’s rights and reproductive health.
She co-edited the anthology Rumpus Women, Volume I with Julie Greicius. Before moving to Brooklyn, she produced and co-hosted the Literary Death Match in San Francisco. She was the managing editor for The Best American Nonrequired Reading 2008, edited by Dave Eggers.

Does Elissa really want letters back? I don’t see an address to send them to. Or maybe I’m just dense.

Oh good. Because I took this seriously one morning while drinking morning coffee, and watched myself sinking deeper and deeper into memory, which I didn’t particularly share, plus personal philosophy. Such that it is today. Tomorrow? Who knows.
