MONDAY 02/18: The Poetry Project celebrates Alfred Starr Hamilton and the release of A Dark Dreambox of Another Kind: The Selected Poems of Alfred Starr Hamilton with editors Ben Estes and Alan Felsenthal as well as Peter Gizzi, Ben Gocker, Emily Hunt, Lucy Ives, Charles North, Stacy Szymaszek, Brian Teare, and Ron Padgett. TUESDAY 02/19: Poet and New Yorker poetry editor Paul Muldoon reads from and discusses his new book The Word on the Street, which takes lyrics from his Princeton-based band Wayside Shrines and presents them as poetry. A discussion with poet Timothy Donnelly follows the reading. McNally Jackson, 7pm, Free.
WEDNESDAY 02/20: Conjunctions and the Dalkey Archive Press celebrate the life and legacy of novelist William Gaddis with Robert Coover, Samuel R. Delany, Rick Moody, and Francine Prose, who will read his letters and discuss what his writing has meant to them. Tishman Auditorium at The New School, 7pm, Free.
Selected Shorts features Lorrie Moore and Sherman Alexie this week. They talk about that thing they do (write books that sell lots of copies) and introduce readings by Amber Tamblyn, Cynthia Nixon, and Jill Eikenberry. Symphony Space, 7:30pm, $28.
THURSDAY 02/21: An all-star line-up of literati get together to pay tribute to poet Lucille Clifton and her posthumously published Collected Poems. Among the readers and speakers will be Sherman Alexie, Tina Chang, Toi Derricotte, Michael Dickman, Timothy Donnelly, Cornelius Eady, Thomas Sayers Ellis, Nick Flynn, Rachel Eliza Griffiths, Marie Howe, Dante Micheaux, Sharon Olds, and Tracy K. Bob Powers’ monthly literary humor series Steamboat features readings and humor from Rachel Dratch, Michael Kupperman, and other funny folks. Greenlight Bookstore, 7:30pm, Free.
