This is the 5th(!) year that The Rumpus has done a National Poetry Month project, wherein we run a new, previously unpublished poem each day of the month (and sometimes we edge a little bit into May–we refuse to be tyrannized by calendars). We were actually a day late in 2009, when we ran this poem by Elizabeth Bradfield, but I think we can be forgiven seeing as Stephen came up with the idea sometime around 2:00 a.m.
Since then, we’ve run quite a few poems here, the bulk of them around this time of year. A little over a year ago, we collected the first hundred together into this neat multimedia anthology for the iPad, which is available for the low cost of free right now. And we’re working on one for the poems we published last year as well. We’ll let you know as soon as it’s available.
Check back here every day of the month for a new poem. We’ll announce each day’s poem on our Rumpus Poetry Twitter feed as well as on the Rumpus Poetry Facebook page.
