The relationship between writing and running has a long history, so perhaps it’s not surprising to see a cluster of longreads having to do with ultrarunning.
One is this New York Times Magazine profile of Kilian Jornet Burgada, “the most dominating endurance athlete of his generation,” who, judging by the article, seems to be some sort of mythical demigod. (Maybe Zeus appeared to his mother in the form of a mountain goat?)
Another is this essay by Leslie Jamison for the Oxford American in which she visits an ultrarunning friend in a West Virginia prison and reflects on strip-mining not only coal, but also the housing market and individual lives.

Once a Runner by John Parker. 60 quarters, baby!
I mean Once A Runner is sort of obvious, but accurate. It’s probably my favorite book about running because it’s not overly sentimental.
