The Franklin Park Reading Series is back this week and is something of a special line-up as they’re featuring a few poets, which is a rare occurrence for the series. The line-up includes the great short story author Amy Hempel, Matthew Savoca, Corey Zeller, Nicole Audrey Spector, and Rebecca Schiff. Franklin Park Bar & Beer Garden (Facebook), 8pm, free.

The Academy of American Poets’ summer reading series continues with readings from Matthea Harvey, Eduardo C. Corral, and Jennifer Militello. New York Public Library, Stephen A. Schwarzman Building, 6:30pm, free.
The PEN American Center presents author Said Sayrafiezadeh reading from her new book Brief Encounters with the Enemy. The reading will be followed by a discussion with Sam Lipsyte (The Fun Parts). McNally Jackson, 7pm, free.
Leigh Stein and Sasha Fletcher’s The Book Report Reading Series celebrates its two-year anniversary. The series asks authors to do a grade school-style book report in a hilarious and strange series at which I’ve seen a country western song about Infinite Jest, a report on hypno-birthing, and pop quizzes on Agatha Christie. This month they bring in Chelsea Hodson, Micaela Blei, Maris Kreizman, Miracle Jones, Krystal Languell, and Jennifer L. Knox. The Gallery at LPR, 7pm, free.
