Mark your calendars: the next Letter in the Mail, going out November 1, is a second letter from Ray Shea.
Ray has contributed to our Readers Report series as well as our Last Book I Loved series, and has been published in several literary magazines.
But for the real reason you should subscribe in time to read his letter, we’ll let Stephen Elliott explain.
From a Daily Rumpus email:
Ray’s first letter just went out so this one will follow pretty soon. I had asked, in an email, why subscriptions were down to Letters In The Mail, and Ray wrote me back with a pretty straightforward answer. He said it was because they weren’t really letters. Some were, but some were like essays with “Dear” at the top and “Sincerely” at the bottom. I said, You should write one. I didn’t mean it to be mean, but kind of like, OK, so fix it. And he did, and it was beautiful. And I had this idea that letter writers should write more than one letter. There should be continuity. So we’re sending a second from Ray, and hopefully a third.
