Tuesday 1/14: The Booksmith hosts a launch party for Motherland, the latest novel from Maria Hummel. Free, 7:30 p.m.

Wednesday 1/15: Michael McClure reads from Ghost Tantras at Moe’s Books in Berkeley. Free, 7:30 p.m.

Thursday 1/16: George Saunders and Karen Russell talk Fresh & Freaky Fiction with Judson True at the JCCSF. $30-45, 7 p.m.

Friday 1/17: The RADAR Slam! is open to anyone who has not read their work at The RADAR Reading Series. Ten readers will be selected via raffle to perform a five-minute piece, and the winner gets a slot in a future RADAR Reading at the Public Library. Judges are Mari Naomi, Alvin Orloff and Michelle Tea. Free, 7:30 p.m at Dolores Park Cafe.

Saturday 1/18: Listen to poetry by Will Alexander, Janice Lee, and Ivan Arguelles at the book release party for The Transparent As Witness by Alexander and Lee. Free, 7 p.m. at Alley Cat Books.

Sunday 1/19: Support the Emerald Tablet and the Pedestrian Press/Bicycle Review and listen to readings from A.D. Winans and John Domini. $5 suggested donation, 7 p.m. at The Emerald Tablet.
