Song of the Day: “Don’t Let It Go”

By

Beck’s skillfully-produced new album, Morning Phase, is loaded with beautiful, atmospheric melodies like “Heart Is A Drum” and “Wave.” So the decisive guitar hook of “Don’t Let It Go” provides a pleasant lift without sacrificing the moody pacing of surrounding tracks.

Morning Phase sounds like a continuation of Beck’s carefully-wrought album of 2002, Sea Change. Even the cover art for these albums seems interrelated. In “Don’t Let it Go,” maybe he’s giving us a hint with the exhortation:

Follow it where it goes
Follow it back to me
I’ll keep it here

No need to ask twice. Watch a live version here.
