Featuring performances by Matt Braunger, Ricky Carmona, Emily Maya Mills, Beth Stelling, and special guest Nate Craig. Curated by Kyle Kinane, and produced by Lisa Dusenbery and Zoë Ruiz. DTLAB by Writ Large Press presents Women Who Submit: It’s A Book! Panelists Antonia Crane, Iris de Anda, Toni Ann Johnson, and Kate Maruyama will discuss the process of bringing their books to publication. 8 p.m. at Traxx.
The New England Review has its first reading in California, featuring writers Steve De Jarnatt, Sands Hall, and Lou Mathews, and poet and essayist Charles Hood. They will read from their work published in the current and past issues of the magazine. 7:30 p.m. at Stories Books and Cafe.
Saturday 9/27: Timothy Steele, Catherine Chandler, and Kevin Durkin read from their poetry. 8 p.m. at Beyond Baroque. $10/members free.
Sunday 9/28: Milk + Bookies Fundraiser with Hannah Fitterman. Milk + Bookies is a national non-profit organization with a two-fold mission: to inspire a generation of philanthropists through exposing them to the joys of giving back, and to provide increased access to books for underprivileged children, many of whom have never had a bedtime story of their own. The funds and books collected will be donated through Milk + Bookies to Koreh L.A. and Vista Del Mar Child and Family Services. 3 p.m. at Diesel Books.
