Looks like Tim Presley isn’t busy enough with White Fence—putting out an album a year, collaborating with various garage rock iconoclasts, playing multiple tours, and managing the label Birth Records—judging by the prolific musician’s move to start a new project, Drinks, with Cate Le Bon. The combination is notably, simply, and wonderfully odd, combining the Welsh singer-songwriter’s folk-rock and post-punk sensibility with Presley’s Bay Area punk history and current hallucinogenic pop experimentation. Drinks, a self-pronounced collaboration as “solo project,” has scheduled the release of its debut full-length LP for later this summer on Birth Records and Heavenly Recordings. The album is up for preorder on iTunes, with the titular single, “Hermits on Holiday,” available there and via the Heavenly Recordings SoundCloud. Preliminary tour plans have also been announced, beginning September in Europe and extending through the fall with select US dates. In the meantime, check out the video for “Hermits on Holiday” after the jump, along with Presley’s White Fence performance from last weekend’s 5th Anniversary Benefit for the San Francisco Rock Project.
