Drivel: Deliciously Bad Writing By Your Favorite Authors, contains exactly what its title promises.

The book came out last fall, but Lit Hub just posted a few excerpts, including a comic strip by Daniel Clowes and a story by Gillian Flynn that was inspired by the Sweet Valley High series.

On his literary “gem,” Clowes said, “I did this strip, along with several others of equal merit, with the intent of selling them to National Lampoon magazine, or possibly even the New Yorker (!), imagining in my youthful delusion that America was secretly clamoring for passive-aggressive adolescent cannibal humor.”

Kelly Lynn Thomas reads, writes, and sometimes sews in Pittsburgh, PA. Her creative work has appeared in Sou’wester, Thin Air Magazine, Heavy Feather Review, metazen, and others, and she received her MFA in Creative Writing from Chatham University.
