Monday 8/3: It’s the first Monday of the month, which means it’s time for another Speakeasy/Open Mic Night! You’ve spent countless hours muttering to yourself as you tried to fix that line of dialogue, now it’s time to say it out loud in front of a supportive audience. CLS Ferguson, Peggy Dobreer, and Milo Martin read from their works. 7 p.m. at Chevalier’s Books.

Tod Goldberg, Julia Ludovici Pistell, and Rider Strong are doing a live recording of Literary Disco! They’ll be joined by Mark Haskell Smith, who will be discussing his new book Naked At Lunch: A Reluctant Nudist’s Adventures in the Clothing-Optional World. They’ll also be discussing the brand new book The Long Fire by Meghan Tifft. 7:30 p.m. at The Last Bookstore.

Friday 8/7: Sylvia Sukop, Lynell George, and Laura Pulido discuss and sign Latitudes: An Angeleno’s Atlas. 7 p.m. at Vroman’s Bookstore.

Mason’s Noise Parlour features a diverse selection of songs and poetry from Lexie Rose, Nando Anderson, and Spencer Shapeero. Host Mason Summit and guest Spencer Shapeero will also perform as their duo, The Clowns Will Eat Me. 8 p.m. at Beyond Baroque. $10/members free.
