Friday 10/23: The Writers Series continues at the California College of the Arts with Dodie Bellamy and Gloria Frym. Free, 4:30 p.m., CCA.
Co-Editors Cheena Marie Lo and Marcus Lund will host a celebration for the inaugural issue of HOLD: a journal. Their announcement does not include a list of readers for the event, but the issue is publishing an impressive roster of writers, so we can expect to be pleasantly surprised. Free, 7 p.m., E. M. Saturday 10/24: Did you know that this week is the 164th anniversary of the publication of Melville’s Moby Dick? If you have ever been seduced by Melville’s vision of the watery part of the world, you might want to stop by San Francisco’s first marathon reading of American fiction’s greatest masterpiece, sponsored by Green Apple Books. Tuesday 10/27: SPD invites you to a party! “Season of the Witch,” features “an array of witchy wonders,” including music by Stella Peach, a panel on “Magic In Contemporary Writing,” Tarot readings, rituals, and demonstrations by a variety of magical practitioners, and special guest CA Conrad. This week’s theatre recommendation is “Ghost Quarter” at Curran: Under Construction. Bay Area theatregoers, you should definitely have Curran: Under Construction on your radar!
