Saturday 1/23: Back Fence PDX gears up a new edition of Russian Roulette,  storytelling competition, featuring Arthur Bradford, Caitlin Weierhauser, Jason Rouse, Renee Jenkinson, Hutch Harris, Chris Williams, and Maura Doherty. Disjecta, doors 7 p.m., show 8 p.m., $15 advance, $18 door.

Sunday 1/24: Eric Weiner reads from his latest work, The Geography of Genius. Powell’s City of Books, 7:30 p.m., free.

Monday 1/25: Warren Zanes reads from his new biography on Tom Petty, Petty: The Biography. The reading will be followed up by a conversation between the author and Peter Ames Carlon, author of Bruce, Paul McCartney: A Life and Catch a Wave: The Rise, Fall, and Redemption of the Beach Boys’ Brian Wilson. Tuesday 1/26: Salon Skid Row presents Melea Seward, Natalie Garyet, and Sean Aaron Bowers for this week’s reading. The Corner Bar, 7:30 p.m., free.

Wednesday 1/27: Brazilian writer Clarice Lispector’s newly translated collection, The Complete Stories, brings legions of new readers to her darkness and dazzle. Now, for the first time in English, Katrina Dodson discusses Lispector’s work with Lidia Yuknavitch, author of The Small Backs of Children. Powell’s City of Books, 7:30 p.m., free.
