Two poems written by JRR Tolkien have been discovered in a school magazine from 1936. The school’s headteacher described the poems as “very atmospheric and imbued with an air of mystery.” They have been posted on the Guardian’s website.

Jake Slovis is a writer and educator. He holds an MFA in creative writing from Rutgers University-Newark and is currently a lecturer in the Department of Humanities and Social Sciences at New Jersey Institute of Technology, where he teaches courses focused on visual narrative and composition.
