Over at the New York Times Sunday Book Review, playwright and author Sarah Ruhl shares which works of literature have had an impact on her life, things that are written in water, and the wonderful feeling of not knowing what to read next:

I’m always about to read “The Remembrance of Things Past.” Not reading it means there is always something for me to read next. Or maybe I’ll start on “Mind Training: The Great Collection,” translated by Thupten Jinpa. Or maybe I’ll borrow the Christmas present that I gave to my mother, that I really wanted for myself: “The Givenness of Things,” by Marilynne Robinson. It’s a curious waiting feeling, not knowing what you will read next. I think I will prolong and savor it.
