This week’s theatre recommendation is Irish Stories, a Word for Word production at Z space. Word for Word is a theatre company that stages short stories theatrically without adapting the text. The stories are performed verbatim, or “word for word.” The current production presents Emma Donoghue’s Night Vision and Colm Tóibín’s Silence. Reviewer Barry David Horwitz writes that the stories reveal “how women can survive and blossom under terrible conditions, becoming independent writers, thinkers, and rebels…” Read the review here.
