The documentary about the outlaw country scene of the ’70s is celebrating its fortieth anniversary with a very limited edition box set from Light in the Attic Records. The film showcases Townes Van Zandt, Guy Clark, Steve Young, David Allan Coe, Larry Jon Wilson, and Steve Earle, their music, jokes, stories, and so much whiskey. It’s funny, sweet, kind of scary, and incredibly moving—in addition to having some of the most incredible footage of the best kind of country. The anniversary edition is available this Saturday for Record Store Day, with a limited run of 1,500 copies, but the documentary itself is available anytime. You should probably watch it right now.
