Friday 11/18: Fifth Wednesday Journal presents a reading by Tony Triglio, Christina Pugh, Richard Jones, and Sheila Donohue at The Book Cellar. 7 p.m., free.

Tara Betts will read from her new poetry collection Break the Habit at Women & Children First! Tara will be joined by Eve Ewing and Erika Sanchez. 7:30 p.m., free.

Saturday 11/19: The Book Cellar hosts the national tour of the women writers of Willow Books, featuring authors Cole Lavalais, Kelly Norman Ellis, Sahar Mustafah, Angela Narciso Torres, and Heather Buchanan. 7 p.m., free.

Head to Bow Truss Coffee for the second installment of the Chimera reading series. Featuring readers Brianne LaPelusa, CM Burroughs, David Lazar, and Kathy Klimentowski. 7 p.m., donations (benefiting 826CHI) encouraged.

Sunday 11/20: As always, the Uptown Poetry slam is going down at The Green Mill. Open mic starts at 7 p.m. followed by the slam itself. $7, 21+.

Monday 11/21: Essay Fiesta turns 7! Join hosts Karen Shimmin and Willy Nast at The Book Cellar for a celebration featuring readings by Britt Julious, Megan Kirby, Morgan McNaught, Paul Whitehouse, and Beth Horner. 7 p.m., donations (benefiting 826CHI) are encouraged.

Tuesday 11/22: Join City Lit Books as they welcome Paul Zollo, author of More Songwriters on Songwriting for a rare look inside the music industry. 6:30 p.m., free.
