Friday 12/2: Poetry Night at City Lit Books! Valerie Hsiung, author of the new book e f g: a trilogy, will be reading from her work, along with Julia Cohen, Hannah Brooks-Motl, and Toby Altman. 6:30 p.m., free.

Laura Jane Grace, lead singer of Against Me! reads from her memoir, TRANNY: Confessions of Punk Rock’s Most Infamous Anarchist Sellout at the Wilson Abbey. 7 p.m., tickets $35 (includes book).

Visit Women & Children First for the book launch party for Michelle Falkoff’s Pushing Perfect. Michelle will be joined in conversation by Nami Mun. 7:30 p.m., free.

Sunday 12/4: As always, the Uptown Poetry slam is going down at The Green Mill. Open mic starts at 7 p.m. followed by the slam itself. $7, 21+.

Monday 12/5: Jane Hirshfield reads at The Poetry Foundation as part of the Poetry off the Shelf series. 7 p.m., free.

Wednesday 12/7: Women & Children First hosts a reading and conversation between Ronna Wineberg, author of Nine Facts That Can Change Your Life, and Donna Baier Stein, author of The Silver Baron’s Wife. 7:30 p.m., free.

Thursday 12/8: The wonderful Guild Literary Complex is throwing a Thank You Party for its supporters at Uptown Lounge. Cheap drinks and free pizza! 6 p.m., no cover.

The Chicago Review of Books Awards Ceremony will recognize the best books published in 2016 by writers in the Chicago Metropolitan Area. Full list of readers here. Volumes Bookcafe, 7:30 p.m., free.
