Shelly Deweese, author of Not Just Jane: Rediscovering Seven Amazing Women Writers Who Transformed British Literature, will present her book and sign copies at Subtext Books. 7 p.m., free.
Thursday 1/12: Local nonfiction author Mindy Mejia will read from her book Everything You Want to Be at Once Upon a Crime. 7 p.m., free.
Friday 1/13: Minnesota natives Michelle Matthees and Julie Gard will read from their newest works of poetry. Subtext Books, 7 p.m., free.
Saturday 1/14: Some of the biggest names in literature gather at the Loft Literary Center for a Voices of Our Nation faculty showcase. Staceyann Chin, Chris Abani, Natalie Diaz, and Elmaz Abinader will each read and take questions from the audience. VONA, entering its 18th year, aims to “change the landscape for writers of color by supporting individual writer growth, creating a platform for community engagement and providing a workshop and mentor focus to expand writing opportunities.”
