This week’s theatre recommendation is Encounter at The Curran. Simon McBurney’s solo performance about a National Geographic photographer’s encounter with a remote Amazon tribe is altogether astonishing. It is an amazing piece of story telling utilizing aural technology in unexpected ways—the audience members wear headphones throughout. The New York Times described this production as “one of the most fully immersive theatre pieces ever created.” It’s all about the sounds.
