You may have noticed a few recent changes to The Rumpus masthead.
First, the sad news. Brian Hurley, the man behind Rumpus Books since 2013, is stepping down to focus on his own awesome website and small press, Fiction Advocate. We are nothing short of heartbroken to see him go (really, words can’t do our sorrow justice), but also look forward to collaborating on future projects. Thank you, Brian, for all the work and dedication you’ve given to The Rumpus over the last four years.
Fortunately, we’ve found someone pretty wonderful to step into Brian’s role. We are thrilled to announce that our new Books Editor is long-time Rumpus contributor Abigail Bereola! With a day job in book publicity and extensive experience writing about books and authors at The Rumpus and elsewhere, Abigail is fully qualified to step into Brian’s hard-to-fill shoes.
We’re also excited to introduce two new members of our Features team: Ngozi Oparah is a writer, teacher, and mental health advocate who is currently completing her MFA at CCA. And writer and editor Christine Hyung-Oak Lee’s memoir, Tell Me Everything You Don’t Remember, was released in February from Ecco/HarperCollins and her novel, The Golem of Seoul, is forthcoming from Ecco/HarperCollins.
Lastly, we’re welcoming back Ben Pfeiffer, former Rumpus Interviews Editor, as an Editor-at-Large. Ben will be focusing on special projects for the site.
A very warm Rumpus welcome to all of our new editors! And while it’s always sad to say goodbye, and this go-around we’re wishing farewell to an especially brilliant editor who has helped shape The Rumpus for the last four years, Brian will always be a part of The Rumpus family.
