Monday 6/5: Join The Poetry Foundation for the premiere of We Real Cool, Manual Cinema’s video honoring Gwendolyn Brooks, who was born one hundred years ago on June 7. National Museum of Mexican Art, 6:30 p.m., free.
Wednesday 6/7: The University of Chicago Writer’s Studio heads to City Lit Books for its spring Open House/Open Mic with a mini-lecture, faculty performance, and open mic. Featured performers include Hannah Gamble and Stephanie Wilson Medlock, followed by the open mic portion of the evening. 6 p.m., free.
