Friday 6/30: Head to Hollywood Beach for the seventh installment of the CHIMERA reading series! Readers include Robert Carey, Jessica DeArcangelis, and Bréia Kokeb. 7 p.m., donations to Animalia encouraged.

Wednesday 7/5: Women & Children First celebrates the paperback tour of Terry Tempest Williams’s The Hour of Land: A Personal Topography of America’s National Parks. 7 p.m., free.

Thursday 7/6: Visit City Lit Books for Poetry in Translation, a presentation by Peter Booth on Hafiz’s conceptions of the nature of God. Fereshteh Azad will read selected Hafiz poems in Farsi. She will also read some of her own translations of Rumi’s poetry at the end of Peter’s presentation. 6:30 p.m., free.

Women & Children First hosts the book launch party for Baffled by Love: Stories of the Lasting Impact of Childhood Trauma Inflicted by Loved Ones by Laurie Kahn, founder of Womencare Counseling and Training Center. 7:30 p.m., free.
